The Porsche 918 Spyder was on the ring last week and everyone knew it was only a matter of time until its time was released. It was. 6:57, smashing the record, and allegedly beating the McLaren P1's time of 7:04. No wonder Mclaren was reluctant to publicize their time.
Awesome, Simply awesome. I hope they reveal the full lap video soon. Thats a Sexy Beast.
I wonder what kind of mileage it got on the lap...

Kinda makes you wonder what times the LaFerrari can run.

It can't set a time, It would set fire to itself before it has the chance.

Rumor is they cheated with a non-production rear wing.

So its the least powerful and heavier of the 3 upcoming next-gen supercars ( ok that sounds like the console wars). Therefore I would expect the other 2 to post a lap that is somewhere close to 10 sec quicker (no scientific calculations were done to get that number, I just pulled it out of "my head"). Either way, that still shows those Porsche people have done some really clever engineering, especially on the electric side of things. Given that they now have the resources of the entire VAG I'm not surprised.

What we've learned here gents is that it costs $910,000 to trim one minute off your lap time at The Ring. http://www.roadandtrack.com/go/future-cars…

Porsche will quickly put out a 'Ring edition with the wing, along with a Gran Turismo 7, RS SL GT, GT3.14, LMP1, and Turbo Supreme edition.

If the 1600kg, 887hp Porsche makes it in 6:57, then the 350kg ligther Ferrari TheLaFerrari with 950hp should make it in 6:4x.

This constant ring battle is more exciting than Formula 1!

It's not yet in production, is it? What would be a "non-production" wing on a pre-production car?
Waitaminute, was that just an attempt at some wry humour?

No I'm quite serious. The production version of the car has a wing that has been spec'd out. The rumor is the wing they ran isn't going to be available to the consumer.
